Class Schedule

The Washington Karate Association (WKA) Ballard Dojo was the first school established by Shihan Julius Thiry when he founded the WKA in November 1966. Originally located on the corner of 85th and 15th Ave NW, the Ballard Dojo has been a familiar Seattle icon to Ballard residents for over 35 years.

In June 2004, the Ballard Dojo relocated one mile east to a larger, more modern facility at NW 86th and 3rd Ave NW. Today, still conveniently located in Seattle, the Ballard Dojo is nestled along several major bus routes and remains the benchmark for excellence in traditional karate in Seattle.

Facility
Two-story, modern facility with over 6500 square feet of space containing:
3 practice areas:

• Tatami room
• Traditional wood floor
• Competition mats

Study center:

• Internet access
• PC computers and printers
• Assisted study time

In addition, a comfortable and spacious lobby area with free, wireless internet access is available.

Programs
A flexible schedule of classes is available throughout the day, seven days a week, with a variety of programs to choose from.

Karate
Beginner through advanced karate instruction for all ages. Classes available 7 days/week.

After School Program
Weekdays, from 3pm-6pm. Transportation is available from Seattle satellite schools to the Washington Karate Association. Light snack is provided, study area with internet-ready computers, and karate class.

Kinder Karate
For children ages 3-7. An excellent introduction to the karate environment through games which enhance physical coordination, mental focus, and the ability to follow directions.
